Workshops & author talks

Workshops, talks and mentoring

Colleen has established writers’ groups and delivered writing courses, workshops, mentoring and creative-writing sessions for adults and children — for libraries, schools, community groups and writers’ groups. Everything is arranged by enquiry, from wherever the van happens to be.

What Colleen offers

Four ways to work together

Courses and workshops

By enquiry

Writing courses and workshops for adults and children, across different forms and stages of writing.

  • Community groups, writers’ groups and libraries
  • Schools and young writers
  • Adult learners and arts organisations
  • One-off sessions or a short course

Author talks

By enquiry

Talks and readings about the books, van life and writing from the road — from a published, award-nominated poet who is already travelling, and can coddiwomple to your town.

  • Libraries and community events
  • Book clubs and readers’ groups
  • Schools and young writers
  • Called to Coddiwomple, Time Like Coins and life on the road

Mentoring and brainstorming

By enquiry

One-to-one support for a piece of writing, a project, or a habit you are trying to build — including help finding a direction when you know you want to write something, but not yet what.

  • Finding a direction or starting a project
  • Opening up a stalled piece or working through a block
  • Choosing a form that suits the material
  • Strengthening a piece you have already written
  • Honest, constructive feedback

Writers’ groups

By enquiry

Colleen has established, organised and taken part in writers’ groups, and is glad to talk to anyone starting one.

Already on the road

There is no fixed timetable — Colleen lives and travels Australia full-time in her campervan, Trevor, so where she is next month depends on the road. The earlier you ask, the easier it is to arrange something around the journey.

If your library, school or group is somewhere she is headed, a workshop or talk can often be folded into the trip. Send a note with roughly where and when, and go from there.
